Christians
The Challenge:
Properly evaluate yourself to see if what you claim to believe is actually what is in your heart.
WELCOME
Christianity is a based on a real historical event that either happened, or it didn't. That event is the resurrection of Jesus Christ. All the evidence points to this event being the truth and proving Jesus was the son of God that fulfilled hundreds of prophecies about a savior for all mankind that were historically written hundreds and even thousands of years before his life. If this is true, then this must mean all other religions are false due to them logically contradicting each other. This also means that we should then believe the things Jesus said about being the only way to heaven (John 14:6; Acts 4:12) and the things he said about how we should live our life.

out the facts and evidence for the resurrection of Jesus.
All it takes to be a Christian is to repent or recognize all the wrongdoing you have done and put faith in the fact that Jesus already took on your deserved punishment for those things as your savior, Romans 10:9-10. That's it. No more, no less.
Becoming a Christian doesn’t make you perfect, but it's actually admitting that you are imperfect. No amount of good works can get you into the kingdom of heaven, but the Bible is the inspired (2 Timothy 3:16-17), inerrant (Matt 5:17, 22:29; Luke 24:26-27) and infallible (John 10:35, 17:17) word of God and you should listen to what it says and be striving to be more Christ like. That is truly how you love other people and show God that it is really on your heart to be in his goodness in the next life. We all have different starting points in our walks with Christ, but we should all be able to see the difference in a Christian from where they were the day before.
If you don’t find it important to seek out following God’s moral laws and commands and striving to be more Christ like, then the Bible becomes nothing more than a self-help book in which you occasionally reference as you sit on the throne of being the god of your own life. It sounds harsh, but if you claim that there is a God of the universe who gave us his moral law, which you claim is good (confirming through accepting Jesus as your savior), then why would you not be striving to follow it? If you know the truth of God’s goodness and aren’t seeking it out, then aren’t you telling God that you don’t want to be in his goodness? If you don’t want to seek his goodness now, then why would you want to be in his goodness for eternity? It’s not someone else's job to question a person’s salvation but everyone needs to be questioning themselves. Hebrews 10:26 states “If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left, but only a fearful expectation of judgement..."
If you want to make a difference in your own life and the lives of others, then you should be striving to become more Christ like. Below is a starting point on how you can grow and how you can gauge what is really in your heart.
How do you evaluate yourself?

READ
If you don't read the Bible, then you don't know what you believe. You can't tell people to believe something that yourself hasn’t taken the time to understand.
You should be reading the Bible to:
-
Understand who God is and how much he values you, wants you, and loves you.
-
Understand how God wants you to love one another. Romans 13:10; Matthew 7:12
-
Understand why you should strive to follow God’s moral law and defeat the presence of sin in your life. James 1:25; Hebrews 10:26
-
Learn how to embrace the Holy Spirit in your life and embrace the fruits that come with it. “..love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control..” Galatians 5:22-23
-
Learn how to discern truth from error. Romans 12:2; 1 John 5:19-20;
-
Deal with discontentment by understanding how only Jesus can fulfill you and not the things of this world. John 6:35
-
Guide your thoughts and actions with the decisions of the day, especially the difficult ones. Proverbs 3:5-6
believe
If you don’t believe, then you will never act in sharing the truth with others or following God’s moral laws and commands. Do you believe what you are reading? Do you believe that the Bible is the objective infallible word of God? What other issues are possibly holding you back from believing? It is okay to have doubts, but you need to use those doubts to guide you to more understanding and that will draw you closer to God. If doubts aren’t properly addressed, then they will hold you back from embracing God’s goodness in your life and sharing it with others.

How can we address issues of unbelief:
-
Discuss issues holding you back with your church groups, pastor/minister/etc. or another strong Christian believer.
-
Seek out apologetic material - material that helps lay out the evidence of why Christianity is the truth and not just another religion. You are never going to have 100% faith believing in anything, but you need to come to the conclusion of what is the most reasonable thing to believe. Remember, don't let what you don't know hinder you from what you do know. The testimonies in the Bible were written long ago, and we can't possibly have evidence today for every little detail of what was written. Focus on the key issues: what is the evidence for there being a creator of the universe and that Jesus was the son of God that died and rose again. If those are true, then Christianity is true.
-
Pray for clarity, guidance from the Holy Sprit, and forgiveness for your unbelief.

act
You have to ask yourself, if I’m not acting God’s will out in my life then do I actually believe? James 2:14-26.
Below are ways that can help you gauge if you are actively seeking God in your life:
-
Be a Christian in all aspects of your life. At church, home, school, work, vacation, etc. Analyze where you are putting all your time and money and put God’s will at the forefront of all your decisions. Romans 12:2
-
Read God’s word and get it in your heart. In doing so, it will become easier to discern what is God’s will and to follow what he says is right. 2 Timothy 3:16; Proverbs 3:5-6
-
Embrace the fruits of the spirit in your life as the world is telling you to do otherwise? “..love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control..” Galatians 5:22-23
-
If God opens your eyes to make a change in your life, then boast for God when people ask what has changed instead of seeking self-recognition. 1 Corinthians 1:31
-
Abide by God’s design for how to structure and raise a family. 1 Timothy 3:4-5
-
Follow God’s moral law, which is how to actually love others. We will fall short of perfection but we should continue to repent for our sins when we do and thank God for the grace he has given us. 1 John 1:9; Acts 3:19
-
Speak God’s truth about sin and the hope that you have to be in God's goodness for eternity in heaven with non-Christians using gentleness, respect, and being full of grace, so they can understand the freedom from sin that only Jesus can provide. 1 Peter 3:15; Colossians 4:16
-
Hold other Christians accountable, by drawing from God’s word, to discuss when they are blatantly or ignorantly breaking God’s moral law. 1 John 5:2-3; Leviticus 19:17-18
-
Vote for candidates in the government that will best carry out God’s moral laws in their policies, not whether they appear to be perfectly moral or even claim to be a Christian. You don’t want a theocracy, but all laws legislate morality. The question is who’s? 1 Samuel 12:14-15, 24-25; Proverbs 14:34
-
Carry out the great commission (not just baptizing, but discipling as well). Matthew 28:19-20
